If I remember rightly, that Australian study was widely mis-reported.
3. Now >5000 people registered on the SLED list.

I'm not saying SL wasn't over-hyped in 2007 etc but would hope that some system for metaverse teleport and content interoperability evolves in which people can exercise choice depending on quality of provision.Peter Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17811527782413146351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11679714.post-50241406755390169502009-01-14T14:26:00.000-05:002009-01-14T14:26:00.000-05:00Once again, thank you for taking the time to revie...Once again, thank you for taking the time to review and assign grades to the predictions. While I usually like to be an A student, I am quite happy with the B-. And am disappointed that my predication f a the Corporate YouTube did not materialize...maybe that was more of a wish on my part.Karl Kapphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10586071112339563727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11679714.post-13055256887810618532009-01-14T10:43:00.000-05:002009-01-14T10:43:00.000-05:00Stephen - I may be easy, but I'm not cheap! I thin...Stephen - I may be easy, but I'm not cheap! I think your assertion that predicting what will NOT happen is dodgy itself. Of course you can predict what will not happen as well as what will happen.

I actually think though that in certain respects, I may have been more wrong than you give me credit for. While I looked at 2.0 functionality to be integrated into learning platforms and while some did - what I failed to predict would not happen is the deafening silence regarding how instructional design should change to include these new features. Also I don't think given my recent experience w/ BB and their idea of 2.0 that I'm gonna allow a 2006 press release from them to be evidence that 2.0 was being integrated. There must be stronger eveidence againist my claim than that.
I was dead-on with my anti-prediction that no one last year - to my knowledge - satisfactorily answered my question as to how a body of tech standards that were born 10+ years ago have relevance in our current technical environment. I was also dead-on WRT that again - to the best of my knowledge - no one actually created a set of desgin principles that successfully marry game design and instructional design. If I missed it, I'd love to hear it.
I also think that I was pretty dead-on about mobile learning - didn't see a lot of people "learning" on the Metro today using their cell phones. There are people doing cool mobile stuff but I'd argue that we're still held back by a set of design principles that focuses on technology versus experience.

I DO like predictions being held accountable and at least I didn;t get an F. You'll also note that I didn't make predictions this year - and no, its not because I just missed the deadline - I've got a new tact though..instead of sitting around trying to predict what will happen in the next twelve months and acting like somehow we can separate technology and its usage from the fear and loathing in organizations for things that will impact their worlds - so instead of doing dodgy predictions - I'm just going to go see what I can get done and report out on that in December.
Have alovely '09! :-)Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08218024853670656902noreply@blogger.com
