They are summaries.

That said, what would be helpful would be to know what "fine points" were missed. It's quite appropriate to post corrections or clarifications here. Indeed, it's preferred, so that the corrections are on the record, and anyone reading the post can read the corrections.Stephen Downeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06140591903467372209noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11679714.post-61416122832246126982010-07-06T06:21:22.075-04:002010-07-06T06:21:22.075-04:00(From Chris - deleted by mistake)

I can see this quite clearly. It too can be harmful. I offered to discuss our work with you personally so there is no confusion about the research. Unfortunately, to my mind, blogging your comments about delivery seem more important to you than learning more about semantics - which is simply all I offered.Stephen Downeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06140591903467372209noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11679714.post-74221688782252225782010-07-05T23:55:05.617-04:002010-07-05T23:55:05.617-04:00Yes students have to learn presenation skills and ...Yes students have to learn presenation skills and need have venues to speak at, but you also miss some of the finer points in your transcription of their work and that of other speakers. I am sorry to say this, but the material was very poorly presented.

Speakers stood with their backs to the audience and read text from the slide. They would then attempt to expand on the point, often failing to complete the sentence or thought. They would mumble and give up part way through, literally saying "whatever".

The researchers may be very gifted, but they absolutely need to learn basic presentation skills. Unless they learn to present their thoughts clearly, they will be no use to a listening audience, and actually harmful to students.Stephen Downeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06140591903467372209noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11679714.post-48486510834467266492010-07-05T11:51:23.407-04:002010-07-05T11:51:23.407-04:00Stephen, I see you had some challenges understandi...Stephen, I see you had some challenges understanding the talks from my group at UNBSJ. I would be happy to discuss our research work in more detail with you - so you can get a more accurate picture of our work with Semantic Technology. - Chris BakerUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13896344248540887583noreply@blogger.com
